THE MODERN TRIO:FIRST BLEND JAPANESE / DANISH PIANO TRIO:
The japanese pianovirtouoso ,Tokyo-based legend , Hiroshi Minami teamet up with the two danish masters of modern jazzmusic, on bass Nils Davidsen and on drums Anders Mogensen.
They first met as trio in Copenhagen Denmark, playing at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival in the summer of 2012.
The trio recorded musicmaterial that reaches back and forth in time.
The music wears a distinctive feel for jazz music, in all its aspects, and juggles with classical music ,minimalistic zones and heavy improscapes.
The unique thing about this recording, is the depht and the adventurous energy running through the music.
THE MODERN TRIO and THE MODERN TRIO ‘s music is a rendez vous between sound and structure.
Listen to the music, and you will find it very playfull indeed! Together they toured and recorded intensively with one of Europes leading trumpetplayers, Kasper Tranberg in the late 90s and early 00s.
THE MODERN TRIO:
Hiroshi Minami (b 1960) piano : Performed and recorded with Jim Black, Chris Speed, Naruyoshi Kikuchi and the legendary japanese vocalist Sumiko Yoseyama a.m.o. Minami released several albums as a leader. He is also famous in Japan for his autobiographical books “U.S.A On A keyboard” and “In Between White Key & Black Key”.
Nils Davidsen (b 1966) doublebass : Performed and recorded with John Tchicai, Tim Berne, Bobby Previte, Django Bates, Dr. Eugene Chadborne a.m.o. Davidsen is a member of the danish musiccollective ILK. He has toured all over the world and together with Mogensen, he was in the groundbreaking Copenhagenbased neofreefunk outfit “When Granny Sleeps”.
Anders Mogensen (b 1969) drums : Performed and recorded with Bob Berg, David Liebman, Steve Swallow, Ray Anderson a.m.o. Anders holds a position as Associated Professor and head of the Jazzdepartment at Carl Nielsen Academy of Music, Odense. And he has done clinics and workshops throughout Europe, USA, Japan and Brazil.
